Sheila Dickson
Sheila has been teaching in the local area for since 1999, gaining her teaching qualification in 2003 from the Yoga Therapy & Training Centre in Ireland. Working with students of all levels and abilities in a mixture of settings, she helps to create a personal Yoga programme suited to the needs of each individual.
Introduced to Yoga in Edinburgh in the early Seventies, she used her personal practice to help in her demanding career as a social worker working in Scotland and in the North of England with Children and Families and Young Offenders.
It has been Sheila’s long held wish to provide a bespoke centre where students can practice Yoga in a clean, warm, calm and uncluttered space.
She is grateful to all those who have shared their knowledge and support on the Yoga path: Ruth White; Mairie Quail; David Swenson; Donna Fahri; Michael Gannon; Paul Grilley; Sarah Powers and everyone she has met along the way - not least Sally Rodich who, on returning to the United States bequeathed her classes - in the Indian tradition - and without whose encouragement Sheila would never have discovered this new career and passion for teaching Yoga - heartfelt thanks to all.
Sheila would also like to thank all her students – past and present - for their inspiration and support and without whom this Yoga Centre would have remained only a distant dream.
Kirsty Anderson (Pilates)
Kirsty has worked within the fitness industry for over ten years. Her background is in a variety of group fitness disciplines including personal training, sports massage and pilates. She has worked with individuals and fitness clubs in Ayr, Australia, Edinburgh and Manchester and is a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 3 (including Pilates) and fully insured.
I have been attending Sheila's yoga classes for almost ten years. Essentially, I practice yoga for the physical benefits of strength, stamina and flexibility. Ashtanga (power yoga) classes are an ideal way to increase physical fitness.
